Saving a File
The information you enter into a form can be saved.
The file you save will end in .ALTR (In older version of this program files ended in .DAT instead. The current version of this program can open files that the program saved with a .DAT extension. All new files end in .ALTR)
The first time you would like to save a file, click on the File|Save As menu. You can give the file a name (.ALTR will be automatically added to the file name) and then click Save. It will be saved in the folder named at the top of the window, where it says "Save in."
In Windows Vista, the default folder is the AltaStar folder located within your Documents folder (YourName\Documents\Altastar). In Windows XP and earlier Windows' versions, the default folder, for new installations of the program, is the Altastar folder located within your My Documents folder (My Documents\AltaStar). For older installations of the program the default folder is the User folder beneath the folder where the program is installed (E.g., C:\Program Files\Alta Star FAR Forms\User).
If you would like to save your file in a different folder, you should located and navigate to that folder. To locate the folder, after clicking File|Save As click the drop down arrow at the top of the window where it says "Save in." Navigate to the folder where you would like to save the file and, after naming it, click Save.
If you make changes to a file after it has been saved, save your additional changes by clicking the File|Save menu.
