Generating an Addendum for MSWord™ or WordPerfect™
A custom addendum can be generated for you with basic information from your contract, (parties, legal description). You can make changes and add clauses with your own word processor. The addendum can be accessed through the Tools|Generate or Edit Addendum menu.
Automatically retrieving the addendum file for editing in your word processor
When you click Generate Addendum the addendum will be opened by your word processor that corresponds to the file association that is set up on your system, if a link can be established by your system. For example, if your system is set up to use Microsoft Word™ for files ending in .DOC, then choosing .DOC as the file type will open the addendum in Microsoft Word. Choosing .WPD as the file type will open the addendum in WordPerfect™ if that association is set up.
Since the use of the automatic OLE link to your existing word processor is dependent on your particular system and is beyond the control of this software, we cannot provide further technical support to establish the link.
NOTE: AFTER GENERATING YOUR ADDENDUM, CHANGES YOU MAKE THROUGH THE DATA ENTRY SCREENS OF THIS PROGRAM (e.g., changes to names of parties or legal description) WILL NOT BE REFLECTED IN THE ADDENDUM.
After editing or adding your text to the addendum, you can print it through your word processor.
Saving your Edited Addendum:
You can save your work in one of two ways:
1. You can close your word processor (before saving the file) and then save your work through the Generate Addendum screen. In that event the file will be saved in a format that can be accessed only by this program; or
2. You can save your work through your word processor under any name you choose in your typical word processor format.
Manually retrieving the addendum file for editing in your word processor
If the link with your word processor cannot be established, there is a manual alternative. After generating the addendum, find the addendum file using your word processor, as follows: Using your word processor, locate the addendum in the User subdirectory where you installed this program or in the subdirectory where your data (.DAT) file was saved. The addendum has the same file name you chose when you saved your file, except it has the extension .RTF, .DOC or .WPD. If you named your file MyClient.DAT, look for a file called MyClient.DAT or MyClient.DOC or MyClient.WPD. (Eg., C:\Program Files\Alta Star Contract for Sale\User\MyClient.RTF.
You can then edit the file with your word processor.
